One Step Catalytic Conversion of Polysaccharides in Ulva prolifera to Lactic Acid and Value-Added Chemicals

The production of lactic acid and value-added chemicals (such as hydroxypropanone, glycolic acid, formic acid) directly from Ulva prolifera via one-step catalytic process was studied. effect different amounts YCl3-derived catalysts on the hydrothermal conversion carbohydrates in explored, reaction conditions were optimized. In this system, rhamnose could be extracted converted situ into hydroxypropanone at 160 °C, while all glucose, xylose, fractionated completely to 220 °C or a higher temperature, several consecutive and/or parallel processes. highest yield obtained 31.4 wt% under optimized conditions. occurred rapidly (within 10 min) showed promise valorize prolifera.
